Raul E Rivero, a Coral Gables resident, started his academic journey at Florida International University’s (FIU) College of Engineering and Design where he majored in Construction Management. Raul later received Bachelor degrees from Trinity International University in Communications and Organizational Leadership and an MBA from FIU. At FIU, Raul was selected by his peers to represent his graduating class in the invocation of the graduation gala. Raul is a founding board member for FIU’s Athletic Association where they led the effort for approval and construction of the new on campus football stadium. He is one of FIU’s first “Living Scholars” and has underwritten four-year scholarships to student athletes who otherwise would not be able to attend college.

Raul’s professional background in construction, insurance, and real estate development has spanned over 20 years. However, his work in the insurance industry is most notable. He is president and CEO of Insurance & Construction Consultants, Inc. (ICC). His areas of expertise are in public insurance adjusting, construction management, IRS cost segmentation and building inspections. Located in Coral Gables, ICC recently celebrated its 10-year anniversary in business. Raul is a recognized expert in the insurance industry. In 2006, Raul was appointed by Florida’s Chief Financial Officer, Tom Gallagher, as governing board member, to Florida’s Commercial Property and Casualty Insurance JUA Board. The board enacted by law, under Governor Jeb Bush, was in response to the state’s insurance crisis. Raul is a regular guest speaker at conferences. In 2007, he was invited by Florida International University’s Business School to their annual Alumni Conference (special panelist) to discuss Florida’s current insurance environment.

Raul serves his community as a board member to Community Smiles, a non-profit dental clinic created to treat the medically underserved low-income population of Miami-Dade County through a partnership with Jackson Memorial Medical Center and the Public Health Trust. Raul is Chairman of the Advisory Board at St. Theresa Catholic School in Coral Gables, Florida, a seventy five year old institution, and is very active in his parish at the Church of the Little Flower where he serves as Lector.

In 2005, Raul founded the Reverend Arthur Dennison’s Emmaus Men’s Softball Tournament. The tournament raises money for the needy and the poor. In just its fifth year, this one-day event has raised in excess of $100,000 for charities. Raul also serves on the board for the Christopher Columbus Catholic High School Alumni Association, a fifty year old high school for boys run by Marist brothers.
